Hepworth Community Association Monthly Meeting Monday June 2nd 2008 Present: Kate Dowling (Secretary), Richard Southam,(Treasurer) Alan Brook, Helen Cave, Sue Gardner, Graham and Mary Wrathmell, Stuart and Sandra Purdie, John Blunden, Jane Blackwell, Steven and Lorraine Pollit, Roy and Michelle Barnett, Tom Dixon 1. Apologies for absence: Graham Basnett (Chairperson), Christine and Drummond Kelsey, Keith Harris, 2. Minutes of the last meeting Minutes for May were approved and placed on the notice board. 3. Matters Arising See further notes 4. Secretary's Report and Correspondence See further notes 5. Treasurer's Report General Fund = £5,893 Focus account balance = £562.00 Significant Income: May Ball profit produced some hundreds of pounds (figure not yet finalised ) 6. Forthcoming Events See Focus for full information. The film South Pacific has been suggested by Christine Kelsey for the Summer but has yet to be confirmed 7. Improvement Projects - Update on progress: - Kitchen - It was agreed that as part of the planned improvements the external door should be adapted to open out not in Stage Curtains - Jane Blackwell will provide further information on electric tracking for these so that a decision can soon be made. It was agreed the colour should compliment the blue chairs The quote supplied for the Stage Access/steps needs alternative costings and it was suggested that Derrick and Charles Battye of Bridge Metals be approached by Graham Basnett for this The Fire Escape Steps and external improvements costs suggested by GPS Metal need to be broken down further for a more detailed understanding of where the costs are divided. Alternative ideas on What we want to Do with Our External Space are needed and Alan Brook offered to chair a brainstorming meeting exploring and develop these concepts at 7.30 on 16th July. Steven Pollitt suggests the Common Good Trust be approached for funding once we clarified a plan with costs as they will fund building improvements (they contributed a grant of £3k towards our replacement D/g windows). 8. A.O.B. The recent donation of a Pool table was regarded as a bigger problem than asset and Helen Cave will enquire whether the charity, Café 100, would appreciate it. The association would like to see an alternative home for it by the end of the Summer. Thanks go to Wright Publication for their kindness in making the donation A Maintenance Day was suggested and agreed to take place early in September.
